Multimedia Communications Officer
The role is with the media relations team in the Marketing and Communications Unit of University of Galway. The successful candidate will have experience in the media, communications and/or public relations and/or as a videographer. A preference would be for someone with a level 8 qualification in media, journalism or communications.
The successful candidate will support various functions of the unit including media relations and in the creation of content to support the wider marketing, public relations and digital communications strategy of the University. They will be required to create multimedia content including clear, concise and engaging copy; press releases; video and other content for social media.
They will report directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications and to support colleagues in the unit on specific projects.
3 Main Responsibilities:
· Video production, including editing.
· Creating content, writing press releases and producing digital communications and social media content
· Liaising with members of the media.
Skills required:
High standard of communications skills, including written and verbal.
Video production, both filming and editing.
A good understanding of the higher education sector.
A good understanding of the media landscape.
A good understanding of social media and how to engage audiences on social media.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Standard office/admin/IT skills.
Video production and editing skills.
