Health & Safety Manager – 25 hours a week

The primary function of this post is to manage and advise the organisation on all aspects of health, safety & quality compliance ensuring statutory, regulatory & contractual obligations are being adhered too.

Key duties will include

·      To ensure that practices and procedures within the workplace coincide with safety legislation and that standards are upheld and maintained.

·      Ensure to have an understanding of all Emergency Health & Safety (EH&S) regulatory requirements required to maintain a safe working environment.

·      Conduct EH&S related workplace inspections

·      Lead development, implementation and review of EH&S related policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with all local and national regulatory requirements.

·      Oversee the implementation of Emergency Planning in each location.

·      Identifying potential hazards and undertake risk assessments.

·      To ensure controls are put in place to reduce the risk rating to as low as reasonably practicable.

·      Ensure that risk management and hazard identification examines work activities which could cause harm in the workplace

·      Provide information in an advisory capacity to ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation, HIQA Standards, HSE, HSA and where applicable European guidelines.

·      To advise & compile relevant data to facilitate analysis of compliance trends and to plan corrective actions and initiate.

·      Carry out the HSA audit tool and implement action plans for quality improvement.

·      Conduct internal audits and inspections as part of the auditing team, as deemed necessary by the Quality & Compliance Manager.

·      To interact with the Quality Control and HR functions in order to assure a common understanding of company objectives, operational strategies, and cross-functional compliance at all levels in the organisation.

The successful candidate will have

·      Degree/Diploma in Health & Safety or equivalent experience

·      3-5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role, with compliance exposure/involvement an advantage.

·      Experience in a similar role, preferably within a healthcare or related industry advantageous.

·      Substantial experience of a highly regulated environment, HIQA regulated, HSE operated/funded an advantage.

·      Experience of disability sector an advantage.

·      Highly organized, with excellent pc & administration skills.

·      Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high initiative and integrity.

·      Full clean Drivers licence
