Job Description
Reporting to the General Counsel, the firm’s Investor Services, the Data Protection Officer will be responsible for the management of the Global Data Protection Office, advising and guiding the organisation in meeting its data protection and AI governance obligations across all key jurisdictions of the business and will perform the following tasks (not an exhaustive list):
- Manage a team of data protection specialists across a number of jurisdictions
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation
- Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders on compliance with data protection and AI governance obligations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to embed data protection requirements into key processes and controls and oversee the mitigation of data protection risks across the organisation
- Lead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the AI governance framework to ensure responsible deployment of AI Tools and compliance with the EU AI Act 2024
- Oversee and manage the continuous improvement of the data protection programme
- Report to governance and oversight forums on data protection risks, initiatives, compliance with data protection obligations and the status of the data protection programme
- Provide advice on data protection impact assessments privacy impact assessments, AI assessments and third party assessments.
- Oversee the review of data protection processing, data sharing agreements and standard contractual clauses in conjunction with the Legal Team
- Cooperate with supervisory authorities in each jurisdiction in which the firm’s Investor Services operates
- Facilitate the exercise of data subject rights
- Be a controlled function role holder specified by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and therefore designated as requiring a high level of fitness and probity.
Qualifications:
- 10 years’ experience in Data Protection, having served as appointed Data Protection Officer during this period
- Experience in managing Data Protection, Risk or Compliance Functions or Teams
- Experience working in either Funds, Banking or other Financial Services or experience working in a fast-paced client service environment
- Degree in Law, Business or related field
- Relevant data protection qualification such as CIPP, CIPM or similar
- Strong knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation and working knowledge of other data protection regimes
- Knowledge of AI concepts, risks and benefits and EU AI Act 2024 requirements
- AI Governance certification or willingness to pursue
- Ability to work on own initiative and collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Pragmatic and commercially focused problem solver
- Experience with OneTrust or other privacy management tools a plus
This role is a Controlled Function (CF) role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.
