Support Worker
Our client, an educational institution is looking for a support work on a temporary 21-hour contract until June 2025.
The role of support worker is to assist the students with intellectual disabilities on the Cumas Programme to meet their day-to-day needs, reach their full potential, promote independence and to be an active part of the University of Galway community. They will support the students to further their education and to build their independent living skills. A major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support the students and staff on the Cumas Programme with development and implementation of the students’ own Foundational Learning and Community plan and supporting them to achieve their own goals. The Support Worker will also assist the students throughout their time on campus in getting to and from lectures and attending to any needs that may arise during lectures. They will also assist students at breaktimes, in the Bialann and at student events.
Skills:
- A minimum of two years employment experience which demonstrates a high level of interpersonal support in a demanding office environment.
- Experience in a role or capacity comparable and relevant to this one.
- A developed awareness of welfare issues and interventions
- An ability to deal sensitively with complex case and confidential material.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Flexibility and problem solving ability
· Excellent IT skills with proficiency in M/S Office applications, particularly excel.
3 Main Responsibilities:
· Coordination of Student Support for Cumas Participants in class and out of class
· Support with the management and delivery of events for Cumas Students.
· Support the delivery of the Cumas Programme for students with Intellectual Disabilities
