Our client The Land Development Agency (LDA) is a commercial, semi-State body that seeks to maximise the supply of affordable homes on public and other land in a financially sustainable manner, supporting the creation of thriving communities and delivering ongoing positive social impact. It is overseen by an independent board of directors and is funded with €5 billion of equity capital committed by the Government. It is also permitted to borrow up to €1.25bn
The LDA has commenced construction on a number of projects on State land and has a delivery pipeline in excess of 17,000 homes. It also works in partnership with the country’s largest and most experienced homebuilders and will deliver a further 8,000 homes under the Government’s Project Tosaigh initiative.
Additionally, the LDA is working on large-scale longer-term strategic areas by master-planning and bringing forward planning applications in locations such as Limerick Colbert Quarter, the Digital Hub in Dublin and Sandy Road in Galway.
Summary:
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Tax Analyst will be a key support for our Finance department providing advice on various tax heads across different departments in the LDA. This position is focused on compliance and process type tasks, with a smaller element of the role focused on consultancy/advisory type tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure accurate and timely preparation, completion and filing of indirect and direct tax returns.
· Provide input/suggestions on process/system efficiencies that might be adopted to improve the processes.
· Assist in ensuring adherence to tax governance frameworks and policies.
· Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and implement efficiencies.
· Responsible for continuous improvement in the efficiency of data gathering.
· Liaise with external advisors to ensure compliance with local tax legislation.
· Provide tax advisory support to various business units within the company.
· Perform tax research and assist in analyze technical tax issues.
· Assist in delivering tax training to the wider firm.
· Assist with responding to tax enquiries from Tax Authorities.
Requirements:
· Holds a degree in Business, Finance or Accountancy related subject.
· CTA qualification or exams in progress is an advantage.
· Proven experience in a tax role within industry or practice.
· Strong understanding of indirect and direct tax processes.
· Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
· Proficient in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
· Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
· Good core IT skills – Adobe, Excel, MS Office, Word etc.
