Counsellor sought for the HSE Drugs and Alcohol Helpline and HSE HIV and Sexual Health Helpline, Dublin
Cpl Healthcare in partnership with the HSE The Addiction Services are seeking a number of part-time Counsellors to work in the service that provides both the HSE Drugs and Alcohol Helpline and email support service and the HSE HIV and Sexual Health Helpline and email support service. Both services are staffed by the same team and are accessed by the public through the same freephone number and email address.
The role will be based in Dublin 10 and will involve working 22 hours per week. The Helpline is currently operating from 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, but hopes to expand its opening hours to include opening from 9am to 9pm on weekdays and from 10am-2pm on weekends, once the full staff compliment is reached.
The duties of the role include:
•To provide phone and digital support (through email, chat etc) to people who call or email the Helpline for support, information, guidance or referral.
•To use active listening skills to enable services users to consider their needs and options
•To provide appropriate levels of information to enable service users to make informed choices
•To maintain a professional stance without advertising personal views, opinions or beliefs.
•To work as a member of a team
•To regularly update the Helplines information on support services in the area of sexual health and substance use , so that all referrals can be relevant and up to date.
Interested candidates should hold:
A professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy of at least level 7 on the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland’s framework.
and
Be accredited as a counsellor with the Addiction Counsellors of Ireland (ACI) or accredited as a counsellor/psychotherapist with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) or a relevant body within the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).
or
Have an equivalent qualification and full registration from another jurisdiction
and
Have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience working as a professional accredited counsellor in a counselling setting with adults and young people where addiction issues were part of this work.

Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and management ability, for the proper discharge of the office.
