Health & Safety Advisor
CPL have partnered with Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) to recruit for a Health and Safety Advisor (HPTO Grade) to join their team on a 9–12-month temporary contract with possibility of extension.
· Pay Rate - £17.94 per/hr
· Location – DfI, Rivers - Operations Division, Western Region Central Services
· Benefits – 37 days holiday per annum
· Hours – 37 hours per week
Job Description
The main duties and responsibilities of the post include:
1.Provide a technical and Health and Safety service supporting our Rivers teams in the delivery of Capital Schemes
2.Contribute to and monitor the delivery and planning of various business programmes, including individual projects.
3.Act as an intermediatory between the TRAM and WADD group on H&S matters.
4.Assist in the support of development or amended of new or existing H&S procedures.
5.Undertake active monitoring of flood risk maintenance or capital works to ensure compliance.
6.Support H&S best practice by actively promoting awareness and ensuring the provision of safe working practices to comply with DfI policy and standards.
7.Liaise with various stakeholders including local authorities, landowners, environmental groups etc. in relation to H&S matters.
8.Provide advice and information to management and staff on all matters relating to H&S.
9.The management of H&S records for the Directorate and liaise with DfI H&S Section.
10. Reviewing and recording of all Incident Management investigation reports.
11. Monitoring implementation of recommendations within Risk Assessments.
12. The design and delivery of non-generic H&S training where required.
13. Auditing of Health and Safety performance across all Business Areas.
Essential Criteria
1. Hold an ONC in construction related / building studies plus
2. Hold a NEBOSH Construction certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent.
3. Have at least 3 years’ experience.

4. Have access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to meet the requirements of the post in full.
