About the Team
The Chief Corporate Services Office champions the highest standards of excellence in delivering group strategy, sustainability, public relations, and enterprise security. The Strategy & Sustainability Team plays a key role in this effort by leading and managing the execution of both the strategy delivery and sustainability strategy programmes, ensuring these are seamlessly aligned and propelled forward.
Role Overview
The Sustainability Manager will coordinate and drive the delivery of the Group Sustainability Strategy, supporting the overarching goal of the Group Strategy: to lead the all-island electricity sector in sustainability and decarbonisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Group’s multi-year Sustainability Strategy and reporting processes, ensuring alignment with the Group’s overall business strategy and annual reporting requirements.
- Develop and manage the sustainability communications programme, engaging both internal and external stakeholders and collaborating with communication teams.
- Lead strategic change projects, inspire and motivate staff, and ensure alignment with the Group's strategy.
- Support external sustainability reporting requirements, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and Carbon Footprint Assessment.
- Identify, recommend, and implement business improvement initiatives based on benchmarking, opportunities, and identified gaps.
- Present strategic and business issues, along with proposed solutions, to the Head of Strategy & Sustainability.
- Represent the Group at industry forums and events.
- Research and analyze new sustainability trends and legislation, and prepare relevant presentations for the Group.
- Prepare presentations and reports for the Chief Executive and Chairperson to support Board and external stakeholder engagements.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in project and programme management, including risk, change, budget, and stakeholder management, with a proven record of delivering large-scale projects.
- Expertise in sustainability strategic planning and execution, including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility and solid relationships with senior stakeholders, influence decision-making, and engage in constructive discussions.
- High level of political sensitivity and astuteness, with the ability to work effectively across all organisational levels.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written; able to distill complex information into clear, straightforward messages for senior stakeholders.
- Skilled in multi-tasking and prioritising tasks under deadline pressure, with a strong sense of when and how to escalate issues.
- Degree or Master’s level qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of the Group's activities and understanding of the electricity sector is beneficial but not required.
