What We Did
Cpl Healthcare was awarded the contract to recruit 100 Band 5 medical and surgical nurses for full-time, permanent nursing positions at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH). Nurses were required to possess a minimum of six months of acute hospital experience.
How We Did It
Cpl Healthcare assigned a project manager and a dedicated Cpl Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust project team. This team included international sourcing specialists, recruitment consultants, compliance, marketing and advertising staff.
Cpl Healthcare advertised the nursing roles across a number of media including international job boards, Facebook advertising, Facebook “live” sessions, and a dedicated microsite, among other efforts. Our marketing activity runs throughout the lifetime of the contract.
We then rolled out a global recruitment strategy targeting countries that would yield the best quality nurses with the most relevant experience (adhering to NHS Code of Practice guidelines). As part of the overall project plan, we would meet with the hospital every two weeks to provide the following information to the Trust project team:
Target countries
Number of interviews
Ratios of interview-to-offer
Ratios of offer-to-start
Induction planning:
Compliance sign-off
First-day details
Induction plan
Support to ensure accommodation, setting up a bank account and securing national insurance number
Future recruitment dates and venues
Outcome
Our main focus and objective was to attract the best nurses for the Trust and get them started in their roles in a seamless fashion. Our activity and our partnership have been successful, culminating in 195 starters for the Trust.
We are measured on the quality of the nurses we source, the candidates’ start journey and their retention. We have done well in all three elements, and we now continue to work with the Trust on an ongoing basis.
