I invite you to download our 2024 Sustainability Strategy and Report, and explore in detail Cpl’s commitments to sustainability.
Since its inception in 2022 this report has afforded us the opportunity to bring together the many and varied initiatives that fall under the very broad heading of sustainability.
This helps not only to keep ourselves accountable, but to demonstrate our progress as we work towards net zero by 2045. It ensures that we continue to put people at the heart of everything we do and that we have respect for and take care of the environment and communities in which we work.
Cpl Sustainability Message
We're delighted to welcome you to Cpl’s 3rd Annual Sustainability Strategy and Report, where we outline our organisation’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability through our close alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Over the past year, we have made significant strides integrating sustainability into our operations, while preparing for the upcoming CSRD legislation and aligning with industry best-practice.
A key focus of Cpl’s sustainability journey has been assessing and reducing its environmental impact. Over the past year, we have conducted a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment across all operations, enabling a clearer understanding of our sustainability starting point and enabling measurable progress.
As part of this commitment, Cpl has successfully reduced its carbon footprint by 14%, retained its B Climate rating from CDP, and received a C rating as a first-time Water respondent.
Beyond environmental responsibility, Cpl continues to prioritise investment in its people. Over the past year, we have increased volunteering hours by over 13%, which has increased our employee engagement in social impact initiatives.
Additionally, Cpl has launched Cpl Fusion, an internal leadership development programme in collaboration with UCD Professional Academy, aimed at empowering our future leaders.
In line with our commitment to creating meaningful employment opportunities, Cpl has also placed over 76,000 people into decent work over the past six years.
With the introduction of stricter sustainability regulations, Cpl remains dedicated to advancing its ESG efforts and supporting businesses as they navigate evolving compliance requirements. By continuing to align with global best practices, Cpl is committed to building a more sustainable and responsible future.
Sustainable Development Goals
The United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future". The SDGs emphasise the interconnected environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainable development, by putting sustainability at their centre. The output of our 2023 materiality assessment identified 5 primary objectives in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that have the greatest impact on our business and where we believe we can make the most difference. These 5 SDGs, along with our 3 strategic pillars, above, have formed the basis of our sustainability strategy.3
