From predicting consumer behaviours to pre-empting driving conditions, artificial intelligence will help unlock new insights for both businesses and individuals. At Cpl, we are pioneering the use of machine learning to help match the right candidates with the right job opportunities as fast and efficiently as possible.
In the last 12 months, we've seen an explosion of new AI products aimed at the recruitment industry, primarily focused on matching candidates and predicting success rates. There have been lots of conversations around the idea that AI will replace consultants, but we don't see that happening. Finding the right candidate is only the first part of the recruitment journey - building relationships with clients and candidates is also key, and that will always need a human touch.
'Cpl is using revolutionary machine learning software to help match the right candidates to the right job opportunities. By embracing artificial intelligence, we can deliver better outcomes for our candidates, clients, and the business. It's transforming how we think and informing how we act'says Kevin Sweeney, IT Director in Cpl.
The AI-enabled app
The AI-enabled app is the latest in a series of transformations undertaken by Cpl to maximise our recruitment resources and results.
For machine learning to work, a wealth of data is needed. Our app draws on eight years' worth of candidate and CV data, such as education and career history, which has been captured in a standardised format in our Salesforce database. We've developed and trained a model, using machine learning and our historical data, where we can now input in a candidate's information and output their probability of success instantly.
The app enables the management team to focus on identifying and measuring key job order attributes, which can directly impact conversion rates, with some specific attributes increasing job placement success rate by 55%.
How we use AI for shortlisting
We receive around 40,000 CVs every month, and that's an awful lot of information for our consultants to go through. To help our consultants be more productive, we've built an AI-enabled app, based on Einstein and Heroku, which use machine learning to predict the probability of a candidate's success.
Within 12 hours of receiving a CV, we can process it via the app and provide consultants with a list of the most highly rated candidates. It helps us help you faster and boosts our competitive advantage.
How AI in the recruitment sector will evolve
Our IT Director, Kevin Sweeney, predicts that we'll see massive developments in the use of AI in the next year or two, particularly when it comes to transactional placements, such as recruiting 50 people to steward a concert, that aren't so much about the candidate's skillset. There are loads of exciting opportunities in other sectors too.
Empowering clients and candidates with insights
Cpl doesn't just share data to empower its consultants; it also shares data to empower our candidates and clients. The company uses the information captured in Sales Cloud to produce a quarterly job index, known as the Cpl Employment Market Monitor. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of employment trends across various sectors, helping both clients and candidates get a feel for the market.
'Thanks to our market knowledge, companies often come to us when to check the skills and salaries for an area before opening a new office,' said Sweeney. 'The ability to provide such insights strengthens our reputation and brand.'
