My client, a financial institution based in Dublin 2 are hiring for an Accounts Controller for a start date in early January.
This is a 6-8 month contract with hybrid working and a competitive salary.
The Accounts Controller is responsible for the provision of accurate, complete and timely financial information to the CFO and wider management. This position will manage and direct general ledger, accounts payable, cash management and revenue audit functions. The Accounts Controller reports directly to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Controller are:
Maintain the General Ledger module within the Progress Banking Application
· Set up monthly reconciliation templates.
· Complete reconciliation of all bank accounts and payroll accounts including an aged analysis of outstanding items.
· Investigate and resolve unreconciled items in a timely manner.
· Process manual adjustments as required.
· Review journal entries on a daily basis.
· Ensure all Control balances reconcile between sub modules of cores system.
Maintain the Register of Investments
· Update for new investments and maturities in the month
· Reconcile investments to bank statements
· Reconcile investments to the General Ledger
· Perform monthly interest and bond amortisation calculations.
Prepare Draft Management Account:
· Prepare & process all journal entries approved by the CFO
· Maintain schedule of accruals and prepayments
· Review all general ledger balances for accuracy and completeness
· Maintain analysis of expense account
· Prepare supporting schedules
Preparation of Finance Reports
· Prepare monthly Liquidity Report for review
· Prepare and submit weekly ISBAR report to the Central Bank
· Prepare draft quarterly Prudential returns for review
· Ad hoc reports as required
Assist CFO in Month/Year end duties
· Assist CFO in preparation of monthly accounts pack
· Assist in preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasting process
· Assist in the preparation of year-end audit files
· Assist in various ad hoc duties as directed by the CFO
· Maintain fixed asset register:
· Maintain accurate & appropriate filing system
· Liaise with external auditors
· Prepare dirt return
Daily Administration Tasks:
· Prepare daily liquidity report
· Administer the Petty Cash Function
· Liaise with Front Office Staff
Cash Management:
· Ensure all clearing accounts are adequately funded
· Ensure the call account is maintained at appropriate levels
· Assist in preparation of short term cash forecasts
Purchase Invoice Processing:
· Process and pay all purchase invoices
· Prepare month end journals
· Prepare analysis at month end of actual versus budget
· Develop an EFT system to pay suppliers
Carry out Internal Control Tests:
· Reconcile all Bank accounts on a weekly Basis
· Reconcile Payroll
· Ensure accuracy of Cash floats
· Sample test accuracy of Lodgements
· Review Exception Report with the CFO
System/Process Development
· Assist the CFO in developing the reporting function of the core system through implementation of business intelligence or other reporting modules.
· Liaise with front office to implement EFT and reduce number of cheques
· Maintain the log of IT issues.
Risk and Compliance
- Identify and assess the impact of risks and assess the likelihood of risks impeding achieving business objectives
- Report to the MLRO any accounts or transactions which require review under AML policy
Additional Duties
Carry out any additional duties as may be assigned by the CFO.
Key Requirements of the Job Holder

· Ability to multi task and work under pressure
· Proficient in MS Office
· Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant accounting field or recognised accountancy qualification.
