We have three exciting opportunities in the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) development team in the Technical Department.
- BER Calculation Methodology Development
- Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPs) and Building Digital Logbook Development
- BER Programme IT, Database and Business Systems Development.
The Technical Department encompasses a number of business areas including Technical Standards and Quality, High Performance Building Retrofits, EPBD Concerted Action, BER Calculation Methodology, BER Software & systems and BER Operations.
Under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), Member States are required to provide energy performance certificates (EPCs) to building owners to help them understand energy performance of their building. To do this, they must ensure that there are appropriate calculation methodologies and software systems in place.
The successful candidates will report to the Programme Managers of the Software & Systems, and the Methodologies teams respectively and will support the development of BER programme IT systems enabling the delivery of the calculation methodologies, BER Certificates and Advisory Reports, Building Digital Logbooks, MEPs, Buildings’ databases and data exchange, Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) and Zero Emission Buildings (ZEB).
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain strong business relationships and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders including relevant representative associations within the industry and other various service providers for the benefit of the programme and the wider organisational goals/targets.
Coordinate and work on the development of building energy performance calculation methodologies.
Play a key role in the definition and implementation of enhancement and changes to the BER programme IT and business systems.
Work closely with the Software and Systems Development Team on the integration of the calculation methodologies’ into the companies software platforms (e.g. DEAP, NEAP).
Work on the evolving EPBD programme IT requirements, such as Building Digital Logbooks and Buildings’ databases.
Work closely with stakeholders including BER assessors, other departments and software development service providers.
Work closely with the EPBD Data Exchange Lead to develop data sharing and access policies.
Assist with the resolution of IT and business systems related issues.
Proven project management skills and proactive approach to achieving results, including managing scope, time, risk assessment, cost and quality.
Knowledge of relevant Directives and standards, e.g., Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Irish Building Regulations.
Excellent management and organisational skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpretive skills with an ability to think strategically and use sound judgement on complex issues.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to represent the company in a public forum.
A capacity to build positive working relationship with colleagues and external stakeholders; to work in multi-disciplinary teams and to network effectively.
Well-developed IT skills.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
A degree (a minimum of NFQ Level 7 or greater) in a relevant technical or operational discipline such as Architecture, Mechanical or Civil engineering, Building Services,
Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, or other fields relevant to building energy modelling and methodologies.
A minimum of four years’ directly relevant experience working in building performance assessment or modelling or in sustainability / energy consultancy, or in project management in a related field (post graduate studies may be included).
Knowledge or experience of building energy performance methodologies, including a working knowledge of DEAP and NEAP.
Experience in software development and quality control, stakeholder management and user acceptance testing.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and managing projects involving a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
BER Assessor certified.
A good understanding of building energy systems.
PMP certified.
