Data Centre Day Electrical Technician
Location: Data Centre, Clondalkin, Dublin
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8am – 5pm)
Salary: €70,000
As the Electrical Technician will be part of a multi-skilled Maintenance Team carrying out Reactive and Planned Maintenance on the following systems; Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS
systems, Battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Suppression systems.
as well as automatic control equipment, including relay logic, programmable logiccontrollers (PLC’s), building management systems, and their integration with the data centre. Although this Data Centre operates 24/7, this is a days position Monday to Friday.
Duties will include
• Perform preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on medium and low voltage
high availability power systems
• Partake in additional Training in the operation and maintenance of all critical facility systems. Areas include:
Electrical, Mechanical, Building Monitoring and Control.
• Use CMMS to create work orders for tasks carried out on site, including recording hours &
comments on all scheduled PM’s via CMMS ensuring compliance is achieved at all times.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in critical facility systems
• Plan, prepare and perform electrical switching and isolations to facilitate break/fix repairs
and scheduled equipment maintenance through following approved operational site specific
procedures as directed by the Electrical Supervisor
• Assist the electrical supervisor in the planning, supervision and handover of any project
related changes or improvements within the facility
• Review subcontractor statements, risk assessments and method statements to ensure
compliance with site health & safety and operating procedures prior to issuing permit to
works.
• Carry out Vendor inspections, checking/monitoring quality of work, review data/service
reports to include all break/fix, P.M.’s and project work on site.
• Engage and support the established knowledge sharing and team work culture.
• Ensure that all work areas are clean and tidy at all times
• Author, Peer review, approve or carry out periodic reviews of all Operational Documentation
(like EOP’s, Drills etc.) as issued by the technical manager.
• Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the campus
domain
• Report health and safety breaches through the ‘HAZARD’ process
• Be fully familiar with site escalation procedures
• Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments (Including Dynamic) are used for all
tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices at all times.
• Ensure completion of scheduled PMs/Corrective maintenance or any scheduled works via
CMMS in a timely manner to achieve 100% PM compliance.
• Develop a good working relationship with all members of staff
• Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment.
To be considered for this position you will have
• A fully verifiable electrical trade qualification and verifiable additional training that is relevant to
the proposed environment.
• Understanding of LV power distribution and loading. Previous data centre (or similar lab)
experience - desirable (applicants from other critical environments with hard service facilities / utilities maintenance will also be welcome)
• A strong understanding and experience of the electrical systems used in a data centre environment, including: Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Fuel Systems, Switchgear, UPS
systems, Battery banks, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Fire Alarm systems, and Fire
Suppression systems.
• Experience of automatic control equipment, including relay logic, programmable logic
controllers (PLC’s), building management systems, and their integration with the data centre
infrastructure is an advantage.
• Experience of low & medium voltage distribution systems and associated switch gear and
protection equipment is preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate intelligently and
effectively
• Computer literate with the ability to compile and submit weekly, monthly and annual reports,
and to monitor and trend operational characteristics (load, capacity, environmental conditions
etc.). Good working ability on Microsoft Office Products.
