Our client Beacon Renal is Europe’s only JCI accredited satellite dialysis unit. They are seeking registered Dieticians interested in working in renal Care. The service prides themselves in delivering the highest quality of care to their patients and delivering excellent customer care. We have two posts available one part - time permanent post and one fixed term contract, fulltime for 1 year.
They operate Monday – Saturday. Closing by 7:15pm each night.
The dietitian is responsible for managing the nutritional care of the dialysis patients. The dietitian will work closely with the Staff Physician and the Beacon Renal multidisciplinary team to deliver a high quality dietetic service.
For both the partime-permanent role and Fixed term contract position, candidates will be working week split evenly between their two clinics, based in Sandyford and Tallaght.
Make up of the working pattern is flexible for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- To assess patients' diets and lifestyles and offer dietary treatment and advice upon admission to Beacon Renal.
- Manage Nutritional intervention. This ranges from specific dietary restrictions e.g. potassium and phosphate, to weight reduction and nutrition support to improve the nutritional adequacy of the patient’s diet.
- Improve quality of life by providing sensible dietary advice to meet nutritional requirements without compromising patient safety.
- To manage the nutritional care of renal patients based on patient assessments and continuous monitoring of the patient
- To achieve outcomes that support maximising the patients’ medical and nutritional status and avoiding nutrition related complications / disease progression.
- Provide nutritional services for the facility’s patients as applicable in order to maximize the patient’s nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes.
- Assess patient’s knowledge of diet and kidney disease and provide education regarding their relationship and impact on their treatment process and their safety.
- Provide patient specific detailed education to patient, family and carers regarding nutritional status, adequacy measures and results, and all nutrition related lab parameters related to their disease process.
- Complete nutritional assessments and progress notes on all chronic renal patients according to established guidelines.
- Document all appropriate information in medical record according to established company policies and government regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff with regards to patient’s nutritional outcomes and defects.
- Monitor patient adherence and response to nutrition therapy
- Participate in multidisciplinary care plan program and meetings regarding patients.
- Engage in clinical audits at least once a year, topic must to be pre-approved by Lead Clinician and Unit Doctor in line with our quality improvement. This will form part of yearly performance review.
The Ideal Candidate will have the following profile
- Will be educated to a minimum level BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
- Poses a minimum of 2 years experience in clinical nutrition as a Dietician, this position is open to basic grade or Senior Dietician's
- Must be registered with CORU
- Knowledge of Renal Nutrition
- Completion of (or willingness to complete) INDO Renal Nutrition course/BDA renal course
- Knowledge of Renal Nutrition
- Capability to ensure continuous education on the topic of renal nutrition
