Our leading energy client is now seeking an ambitious and dynamic Director of Strategic Programme Delivery to join the Chief Transformation & Technology Office. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Transformation & Technology Officer and be a member of the extended leadership team.
As Director of Strategic Programme Delivery, you will lead the development of strategic program that align with the company’s objectives and goals and lead the recommendation of adoption and prioritisation of the projects to be included in the program for Executive approval.
Key Responsibilities:
· You will be responsible for the management and delivery of the transformational strategic programme which supports the Government’s decarbonisation ambition while focusing on deliverability, affordability, sustainability and competitiveness.
· You will be responsible for overseeing strategic initiatives, managing program delivery, and ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
· As part of your role, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of transformative reforms and programs, applying best practice methodologies to achieve government and regulatory priorities and desired outcomes.
· You will champion flexible and innovative solutions to delivering the IT and business projects within the program.
· We will look to you to collaborate with product owners and service providers to ensure seamless execution.
· The role holder will develop and execute governance, reporting, and review frameworks to provide a holistic view of program activity and progress.
· You will manage program budgets, resource allocation, and cost control, monitor programme performance, identify areas for improvement and ensure stakeholders are fully informed and support informed decision-making.
· You will drive the design and implementation of a common methodology, standards, and tools for successful program delivery.
· We will look to you to provide leadership, management of processes and functions to ensure efficient and effective program management, benefit realization, and alignment with government and organizational priorities.
· As part of your role, you will establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external) engage with strategic partners, regulatory bodies, and government departments to keep all informed on performance.
· You will also manage relationships with vendors and external partners and work with the Director of IT on contractual needs for the successful delivery of the programme and ensure timely delivery of contracted services.
· You will assess cross-functional project team capability, the future skills required to operate during and post the programme delivery and ensure adequate capacity to handle program demands.
· Provide coaching, training, and support to enhance program management capability and the address any skill deficiencies.
· As part of your role, you will proactively represent the government’s interests and optimize outcomes related to solutions and services, manage performance and resources (budget, staff/contract performance, asset management, reporting), and lead the CTTO regulatory submission for strategic projects.
Successful candidates will have:
· Significant and proven experience in delivering business change or IT change programs
· Exceptional people leader, able to set out a vision and plan, and bring employees on the change journey
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field in business administration, management, Project Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
· Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity
· Familiar with the energy industry, and energy market dynamics.
· Experience of creating, leading and influencing high performing teams in changing circumstances
· Significant experience in program management, strategic planning, and delivery of complex large-scale projects.
· Exceptional at identifying and mitigating risks
· Strong leader in managing budgeting, funding requirements, and financial management.
· Excellent stakeholder management within the energy industry or similar industries
· Experience working in government, public sector, or regulated industries is advantageous.
· Proficiency in managing organisational change and transformation.
