Forester -North Munster/Leinster
My client is looking to bring in an experienced Forster into there growing operation in the North Munster and Leinster regions.
Position Overview:
The successful candidate will become a key member of a dynamic forestry team. Reports to the Head of Forestry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage the procurement of logs from various sources, including state and private suppliers, covering standing, roadside, and delivered material.
- Oversee harvesting and haulage operations, ensuring timely delivery to meet mill requirements while adhering to Health and Safety standards. The role will also involve fulfilling the Forest Works Manager duties in compliance with HSA regulations and industry standards.
- Coordinate log intake in collaboration with mill staff.
- Ensure logs are delivered on time, meeting mill specifications and quality standards.
- Operate and manage the Forest Management Systems.
- Participate in meetings with state and private sector stakeholders, and engage in marketing events and committees as needed.
- Stay updated on forestry trends and industry developments.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven ability to assess standing and roadside timber, with experience in log procurement and managing the Forest Works Manager role.
- Experience managing harvesting and haulage contractors to meet mill requirements, while maintaining industry standards and compliance with codes of practice.
- A third-level qualification in forestry.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full clean driving license with a willingness to travel.
- Proficient in IT and forestry-related software.
