Liaison Officer
Our client, a public sector body is looking to hire a Liaison Officer on a temporary 3 month, 35 hours per week contract based in Galway.
Purpose:
The main functions of the Liaison Officer post are as specified but not limited to:
● Implementation of the Liaison Officer functions for the Assessment of Need process under the Disability Act 2005.
· The Liaison Officer will arrange appropriate service provision for a person with a disability, in accordance with the assessed needs and having regard to the available resources.
· He/she will provide a Service Statement for each applicant and ensure that the services committed to in the Service Statement are delivered within the time frames specified.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administration
● Be responsible for the provision of statistics as requested.
● Ensure that all administrative systems are in accordance with guidelines, polices and to the highest standards.
● Maintenance of information, and document retention for all duties laid out under the Act
Legal
● Meet all obligations as laid down under the Disability Act 2005, receive Assessment Reports from the Assessment Office, prepare Service Statement in accordance with the Act, along with adhering to the regulations, orders, protocols and guidelines made under the provisions of that Act as laid down by the HSE.
● Meet all relevant obligations resulting from the implementation of the Education for Persons with Special Educational Needs Act 2004.
● Work within the Corporate Governance Framework in the setting, monitoring and maintaining of standards of care within the service and within the legislation relating to health and social care in health service provision.
● To be aware of relevant legislative, regulations and procedures
● In preparing the Service Statement, agree with the relevant service manager the elements of the Service Statement that can be delivered within an agreed timeframe and the steps to be taken to plan to meet service gaps identified.
● To ensure that services provided are of the highest standard and comply with the Governance requirements set out in the Service Arrangement.
Candidates must hold
● A relevant third level qualification (NFQ Level 7 or above) on the National Framework of Qualifications maintained by Quality and Qualifications Ireland or equivalent qualification.

● Experience of working in a Health Care environment and ideally with people with disabilities in an administrative capacity
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

● Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of HIQA’s responsibility with regard to registration and regulation of services provided in Designated centres for children and adults with a disability.
● Demonstrate a clear understanding of the ethos of Person Centred service delivery & design.
● Demonstrate understanding and/ or experience of the Health Service Executive and Disability Services.
● Demonstrate an understanding of financial requirements and presentation of same.
● Demonstrate evidence of computer skills including use of Microsoft, Word, Excel, Power point and email/internet as a research tool
