NEW ROLE : Microbiology Laboratory Manager required for laboratory facility in Rathcoole. The successful candidate will have people management experience including performance reviews, probation reviews and career development planning. Would suit a team lead who is keen to move in a management role. The Laboratory Manager will sit on the site leadership team.
Role
- Oversee daily testing routine which includes QC and Customer contract services for Bacterial endotoxin Testing, sterility and bioburden testing for traditional and rapid methods.
- Coordinate laboratory testing schedule and assign tasks/projects to team members when applicable.
- Establish efficient work procedures and processes that support company and departmental standards and procedures.
- Establish and monitor department performance metrics, operational goals, and improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for hiring, development and performance discussions with laboratory team members including performance reviews, probation reviews and career development planning.
- Responsible for representing the laboratories as SME in audits and inspections (internal and external) and providing laboratory tours.
- Responsible for implementation of continuous improvement methods to enhance area operations, efficiency and service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory and client requirements (GMP, FDA, ISO) and to departmental policies, practices and procedures
- Coordinate the training and proficiency planning and ensuring all laboratory is adequately trained to perform tests efficiently and safely.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. /B.S.) in Microbiology/ Biology or a related discipline.
- Experience managing teams in a GMP pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory setting.
- Strong practical experience with Bacterial Endotoxin testing and Microbial Testing Methods (Sterility and Bioburden).
- People management experience required - performance reviews, probation reviews and career development planning
- Minimum knowledge of algebra required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, and Excel.
- Able to evidence effective problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience working in global organizations with matrix and function reporting structures desired.
- Experience with Rapid microbial methods is an advantage.
- Experience with various program applications / QMS platforms such as Pilgrim, Trackwise, LIMS etc is preferred.
