Our client is is the national authority responsible for promoting sustainable energy practices in Ireland. They are seeking a Programme Executive to join their Research Innovation & Electricity Department on a 12 month contract.

- Promoting renewable energy by supporting technologies like wind, solar, and bioenergy.
- Driving decarbonisation to meet Ireland's climate targets and transition to a net-zero energy system.
- Providing research and guidance on energy policy, innovation, and sustainable practices.
- They work with individuals, businesses, and public bodies to achieve a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
Position Overview
This role will play a pivotal part within the department, reporting to the Programme Manager for Funded Research. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and innovative team dedicated to the high-quality delivery of responsibilities related to research and innovation activities as outlined in relevant legislation. These responsibilities include coordinating, promoting, and facilitating research, development, and demonstration of technologies related to sustainable energy.
The Research, Development, and Demonstration (RD&D) team oversees a national energy funding programme, supporting approximately 50 research projects and fellowships annually while collaborating on other national and international funding initiatives. Additional activities include managing national energy research data, disseminating research findings through conferences and seminar series, and working closely with colleagues across the department, government bodies, and international partners.
Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate must demonstrate:
- At least 3 years of experience in research programme administration/management or within an energy research-related field.
- A third-level qualification in a relevant energy-related discipline, with a background in engineering, science, or social sciences, or an equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of Ireland’s energy research strengths and opportunities.
- An understanding of national and European energy policy priorities and the role of research in achieving these goals.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working in an energy-related research environment, whether in the public sector, academia, or industry.
- Post-graduate or PhD-level qualification.
