Cpl Healthcare has partnered with a Cork based community support service to recruit for a Part-time Health and Continence Nurse (22.5 hrs week)
Based just west of Cork city, the successful candidate will be joining an innovative service which supports children, adults and families living with a neuro-physical disability. The service is focused on, but not limited to, people living with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Childhood Stroke and Spinal Cord Injury. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, motivated Nurse to work as part of a dedicated team in developing health and continence support programmes to increase service users abilities to carry out daily activities or occupations independently and with more confidence.
To be considered for the role, interested applicants are required to meet the following criteria:
- RGN or/and RNID on the active register of the NMBI.
- Experience working with children and adults with disabilities
- Experience working in the area of continence, preferably neurogenic although not essential as training will be provided.
- Experience with the management of constipation
- Urological experience where possible esp. bladder management (neurogenic experience preferable), ISC/CIC, knowledge of urological investigations
- Experience of toilet training for children with disabilities
- Ability to coordinate workload, coordinate clinics and review appointments:
- Work as part of a team
- Able to work on own initiative, within scope of practice.
- Positive, practical can-do, solution focused approach
- Flexible and able to handle change
- Excellent task management and organisational skills.
- Policy development experience
