Senior Cyber Security Specialist urgent Daily rate contractor for Dublin 2. Your role will encompass
guidance in identifying vulnerabilities and highlight areas for improvement.
• Implement and recommend best practices to harden network infrastructure and improve overall cyber resilience.
• Review and assess existing security policies, processes, and business continuity plans to ensure alignment with NIS2 Directive and ISO 27001.
• Conduct detailed reviews of network, systems, and application security controls.
• Assist in the development and enhancement of incident response procedures.
• Lead and facilitate a table-top exercise with the ICT Unit, simulating cyber incidents.
• Provide practical, real-time advice and support on day-to-day cyber security queries and incidents.
• Mentor and upskill current cyber security staff through knowledge sharing, training sessions, and best practice guidance.
• Prepare clear, actionable reports and recommendations based on security assessments.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and technical teams to implement security improvements and policy reviews.
• Support the organisation in maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory and security standards.
Essential Requirements/Experience
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior cyber security role, preferably in a consultancy or advisory capacity.
• Experience with training IT teams on Cyber Security techniques and processes.
• Relevant and current cyber security certifications such as:
CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
ISO 27001 Lead Implementer or Auditor
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or equivalent.
• Proven experience with NIS2 Directive implementation and ISO 27001 compliance.
• Strong technical knowledge of network security, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and threat hunting techniques.
• Experience in security hardening of networks, systems, and applications.
• Demonstrated ability to review, develop, and improve business continuity and incident response processes.
• Proven track record in conducting and facilitating table-top cyber security exercises.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring and upskilling cyber security staff.
• Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situations and respond quickly to cyber security incidents.
