Job Overview
Our client are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our clients fleet, contributing to the overall operational success of the company.
Working hours: 50 hours, Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm, Saturday availability, 7am-12pm
Responsibilities:
- Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service lorries, including inspection, tyre rotation and oil changes
- Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop
- Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs
- Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed
Requirements:
- Class 1 and/or 2 HGV Licence preferred.
- Possession of relevant certifications or qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
- Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles, uncluding engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components.
- Previous experience working as a mechanic, preferably specialising in HGVs, with a strong understanding of the engines and hydraulic systems.
- Strict adherence to health and safety regulations to minimise risks and maintain a safe working environment.
- Clear communication with colleagues and clients to explain repair procesures, provide updates, and answer questions.
