Sub-Editor/ Designer

FTC 11- month contract

Cpl Marketing are currently recruiting for a Designer/ Sub-Editor to join an experienced Production team for a leading Agricultural newspaper based in Dublin. The ideal candidate will have studied Journalism/Media and have experience in page layout, subediting and design.

What you will be doing:

·      Sub-edit, and amend as necessary, all copy used in the production of the client for both print and online.

·      Write appropriate headlines and captions for stories and images.

·      Deliver content to digital channels.

·      Ensure that such copy is factually correct, and is grammatically comprehensible. Rewrite copy where necessary in consultation with the originator of such copy to facilitate readability, following house style as it is established and directed by the Production Editor.

·      Layout and design pages as directed by the Production Editor using such copy, graphics and images as are made available to create readable and attractive pages.

·      Sub-editing and layout is to be carried out using such facilities as are supplied by the client, including software, hardware and print outputs.

What you will have:



•                    3+ years’ experience as a production journalist

•                    Third-level degree in journalism or equivalent.

•                    Experience in page layout subediting and design, and of working in a production team.

•                    Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.

•                    Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

•                    Ability to work to work accurately to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment

•                    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•                    Experience in editing web stories in a content management system.
