12 month contract
A leading biopharmaceutical organisation are looking for a Protein Scientist or Senior Protein Scientist to join them on a 12 month contract. This individual will be involved in the production of proteins to elucidate mechanisms of targeted protein degradation and work with novel E3 ligases. There will be a significant focus in the role on hit finding and drug discovery.
The successful individual will be a key member of the department, generating vital proteins to support drug discovery projects in the targeted degradation area. They will be lab-based, proposing experimental strategies, troubleshooting problems and making a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects.
Requirements:
• Experience in the purification of proteins (including antibodies) for target validation, screening and/or structure.
• Understanding of a range of expression systems including in vitro translation, bacterial (E.coli) expression, yeast (Pichia pastoris), baculovirus, mammalian transient and stable expression systems.
• Experience in the biochemical, physicochemical and functional characterization of proteins.
• Experience in large scale production of proteins, including endotoxin free proteins and/or production of modified or labeled proteins would be useful but is not essential.
• Experience in targetted protein degradation would be advanatageous.
• It would be advantageous to have an understanding of pre-clinical drug discovery and how it contributes projects as well as an understanding of how different drug discovery disciplines contribute to a project.
