Job Summary
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Data Scientist to spearhead data-driven initiatives in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The role requires an expert who can combine advanced data science methodologies with deep industry knowledge to optimize manufacturing processes, ensure product quality, and drive innovation in a highly regulated environment.
As the Lead Data Scientist, you will work with multidisciplinary team, collaborating with engineers, scientists, and regulatory experts to transform raw data into actionable insights. This role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making, improving operational efficiency, and fostering innovation across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:
- Define and implement the data science roadmap aligned with organizational goals in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Identify high-impact areas for applying data science in process optimization, supply chain management, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
- Advanced Analytics and Modeling:
- Develop and deploy machine learning models and advanced statistical techniques to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Analyze real-time data from manufacturing systems to predict equipment failures, improve yield, and reduce downtime.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with manufacturing, quality assurance, and IT teams to design data-driven solutions.
- Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment of data science initiatives with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Team Development and Mentorship:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of data scientists, data engineers, and analysts.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Data Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., FDA, EMA, GxP).
- Establish best practices for data management, model validation, and documentation.
Qualifications
Education:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in data science, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
- Strong experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments is required.
- Proven expertise in applying data science to manufacturing processes, quality assurance, or supply chain optimization.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
- Familiarity with manufacturing systems like MES, LIMS, and SCADA.
- Experience with big data platforms and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP.
- Knowledge of chemometrics, process analytical technology (PAT), and multivariate data analysis.
- Experience with digital transformation initiatives, such as Industry 4.0 or smart manufacturing.
