SENIOR MEDIA RELATIONS MANAGER
I am currently seeking a Senior Media Relations Manager for our client, a government body. This person is responsible for the planning and implementation of PR Campaigns, responding to media queries, and developing & ensuring consistency of key messaging across all channels.
This is a hybrid position, based in Mayo.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategic Communications:
· Plan and implement PR campaigns aligned with clients’ strategies.
· Align communications strategies with external stakeholder engagement.
· Enhance external communications and generate positive media coverage.
· Develop and execute an annual PR plan to support organizational goals.
- Media Relations:
· Respond to media queries in collaboration with stakeholders.
· Provide timely and accurate responses through the press office.
· Offer out-of-hours media support and crisis communications guidance.
· Monitor media coverage and provide insights to leadership.
· Advise internal teams on communication opportunities.
- Proactive PR Engagement:
· Plan and execute proactive media events and campaigns.
· Build relationships with media to enhance public awareness.
· Promote research findings through strategic communication.
· Organize stakeholder events and provide media training for staff.
· Serve as a spokesperson when required.
- Issue Management:
· Identify and mitigate reputational risks through strategic issue management.
· Handle Freedom of Information (FOI) and Parliamentary Questions (PQs).
- Communications Collateral Development:
· Develop and ensure consistency of key messaging across all channels.
· Create high-quality marketing materials for diverse audiences.
· Support the digital team in leveraging online platforms for outreach.
- Monitoring and Impact Measurement:
· Evaluate and report on PR initiatives’ effectiveness.
· Track and analyze media coverage to inform strategy improvements.
· Foster a culture of impact-driven communication efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:
· Extensive experience in public relations and media engagement.
· Proven ability to develop and implement PR programs successfully.
· Strong experience in issue management and crisis communication.
· Previous experience as a media spokesperson.
Desirable:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Results-driven with a proactive, can-do attitude.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Digital-first approach to PR strategies
