Senior Product Design Engineer
Location: Clonmel, Ireland (Hybrid Work Position)

Department: Vessel Closure (VC) within R&D
Position Summary: The Senior Product Design Engineer will play a key role in our R&D team, focusing on the mechanical and industrial design of new and existing on-market products. This role involves delivering the design aspects of new product development programs to meet strategic objectives and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Clonmel-based VC R&D team in product design activities for both new and on-market VC products.
• Provide product design-focused technical direction to cross-functional teams.
• Liaise with stakeholders and senior management to ensure the successful delivery of R&D programs.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners, ensuring clear understanding of expectations and deliverables.
• Ensure timely delivery of R&D programs.
• Lead the VC R&D team in planning and executing complex product development programs from conception to launch.
• Manage product builds and testing as required.
• Prepare for and lead cross-functional team design and technical reviews with senior management.
• Develop and source appropriate materials and technologies for medical device design and construction.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to R&D program team members.
• Generate and maintain technical documentation in line with the Quality Management System and regulatory requirements.
• Build and develop product design knowledge and capability within the VC R&D team.
• Incorporate state-of-the-art design solutions into product development activities.
• Provide regular input, updates, and direction to staff on technical topics and issues.
• Perform other related duties and tasks as required.
Education and Experience:
• NFQ Level 8 qualification in a product design-related discipline with 5+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Proven track record of successfully leading product design and development activities from conceptualisation to commercial launch.
• Good working knowledge of medical device materials and processes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Significant working knowledge of technologies for prototype design and generation.
• Demonstrated analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated people management skills and experience.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively as a team lead and team member.
