Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly organised Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial transactions across our German and Irish entities. In this role, you will ensure that financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with company policies and legal regulations.
Your responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, and assisting with audits. To succeed, you should have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software.
This is a full-time position based in our Frankfurt office
Your Key Responsibilities:
General Bookkeeping:
- Record daily financial transactions and classify them appropriately.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and other accounting documents.
- Post journal entries and maintain general ledgers.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial data in accounting software.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and accurate billing.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on overdue payments.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements with company financial records.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and financial records.
Payroll:
- Assist in payroll preparation and ensure all payroll transactions are accurate.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax filings.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements).
- Provide financial reports to management as needed.
Tax Compliance:
- Maintain tax records in compliance with local laws and assist in preparing tax filings.
- Monitor tax regulation changes and ensure compliance.
Audit and Documentation:
- Prepare documentation for audits and ensure financial records are well-organised.
- Support external auditors during the annual audit process.
Financial Analysis (if required):
- Analyse financial data to identify trends or discrepancies.
- Provide recommendations to improve financial processes and cost control.
What you will bring to the role:
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Experience with financial record-keeping, account reconciliation, and report generation.
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or similar role.
- German language proficiency at C1 level.
- High school diploma or equivalent; bookkeeping or accounting certification preferred (e.g., AAT, CPA).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience (not mandatory):
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in payroll management and tax compliance.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and financial audits.
- Experience in the construction industry or a related sector.
- Previous experience working with audits or financial compliance.
- Familiarity with German accounting and business software, such as **DateV**.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Office based - with potential for hybrid work at the manager’s discretion.
- Occasional overtime may be required during month-end or year-end closing periods.
